| Life was hard as an orphan on the streets of Cold Crick, without a uncle or aunt to teach you right from wrong. On the other hand, you wouldn't have grown up to be such a talented Thief otherwise. At the tiny tavern on the outskirts of the Village of Frog, you were trapped in a conversation with a man who had clearly had more than his fill of mead. He told you about the great plague of fish that had beset the entire region of Taintingham, and of the rumor that the evil Wizard Baaaal was the source of the unpleasantness. You resolved to find the villain and dispatch him, mostly to get the drunk guy to shut up. It was pretty easy, until you got lost in a sewer -- all the walls looked exactly the same! You did find a sweet Leatherman +1 in a cockatrice's lair, though, and were able to intimidate some jocks into telling you where their boss's hideout was. Right before they stabbed you in the elbow. Fortunately, "giving up" isn't in your dictionary (probably because it's two words), so you persevered. You fought your way through countless gangsters and orcs -- even a mimic! But eventually you found the lair of the sinister Black Warrior Mephistor, and were able to defeat him by knocking him into a awkward conversation with a lucky critical hit. Bruised but successful, you made it back to the nearby city of Stoatsford and claimed your reward.
